Plan for retirement

Plan for retirement

We all have an idea of how we’d like retirement to be...but can we do more to make our dreams our reality?

The good news is yes, you can and you definitely should – especially as the pension freedoms introduced in 2015 give you more choice than ever before.

If you have yet to retire, we encourage you to take some time now to look ahead to your retirement, and consider the financial and practical aspects of retirement.

Countdown to retirement

A typical year prior to retirement, for your pension can look like this:

1)1 year to 3 months = Reasearch your options and plan your retirement. Check for any GARS*, plus any restrictions or changes that may apply depending on when you take your pension pot. 2) 6 to 3 months = Compare your options. Additional letter from your provider outlining their retirement income offer to you. 3)3 to 1 months = Shop around, enquire and apply, for free guidance visit www.pensionwise.gov.uk. Receive your pension benefits

*Protected benefits could include Guaranteed Annuity Rates (GARS) and Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP).
